Vlado Tuđa rođen je 6.3.1951. godine u Zagrebu. Godine 1970. odlazi u Nizozemsku u Rotterdam gdje studira slikarstvo na Academie Van Beeldende Kunsten Rotterdam. U rotterdamskoj luci (u središtu grada), Parkhaven 21, živi i radi na brodu. Atelijer mu je u kapetanskoj kabini na vrhu broda odakle se pruža pogled na cijeli grad, kanale i Sjeverno more. Izlagao je na 45 samostalnih izložbi i više od tridesetak skupnih izložbi u Nizozemskoj, Njemačkoj, Belgiji, Danskoj, Rusiji, Češkoj i Americi. U Nizozemskoj okuplja svoju likovnu grupu četvorice (četiri nacije) i s njima izlaže. Dobitnik je brojnih nagrada i priznanja između ostalog:

1980. – 3. Smotra likovnog stvaralaštva, 2. nagrada Grada Zagreba.
1986. – 1. nagrada za slikarstvo (likovno stvaralaštvo radnika Grada Zagreba), priznanje Večernjeg lista.

Dugogodišnji je davatelj svojih djela u humanitarne svrhe, ilustrator raznih časopisa i novina. U trenutku povratka u domovinu ne nalazi na otvorenost prema svojoj umjetnosti kakvu je imao u Nizozemskoj te se zbog toga povlači u svoj mir, u atelijer na Velikom vrhu (obronci Medvednice), gdje neumorno stvara, slika i kipari. Ne izlaže više od 25 godina. U tom vremenu stvorio je više od 2000 djela, koja od 2006. godine aktivno predstavlja likovnoj javnosti.

“The enthusiasm for painting and life characterizes the work of Vlado Tuđa in the pleasant and provocative ambience of the painting, in the transformations of the original motif, with works, and the constant meditative and eruptive, fertile freshness of expression. His artistic curiosity led him to the joys, anxieties, bizarre and idyllic concepts, and above all to the essence of the great and small things in the episodes of human existence. The paintings are also metaphors and reflections of the arena of our everyday life.

In his paintings, Tuđa developed a peculiar view of figuration with an interesting synthesis of realistic precision and expressionist freedom. In the gradual exclusion of the motif’s imposition, Tuđa also adopts a way of abstract expressionism, where the subject becomes an autonomous visual form. From the elements that make Tuđa’s stylistic crossword, an important link is the tendency to deform the shape, that is, to steer away from the usual, which is, according to some, the coordinate of shape that is close to the world of Picasso’s genius. Not as a replica of the work of this great master, but as a dialogue established in the context of the inner encounter, some general places, universal in the perception of beauty as a concept adopted in our time. Tuđa also applies the Cubist principle of ambivalence of representation (a multi-sided depiction of a face, or multiplicity of fragments of the figure), similarity also lies in Picasso’s surrealist treatment of the figure and other fascinating aspects of painting. Tuđa’s artistic sensitivity touches the individual shapes of that impressive work, which led to him being named the Croatian Picasso. But not as an epigon, who would only reinterpret his accomplishments, but as a painter on his own path, searching and also wandering in order to achieve the authenticity of the expression. And, without a doubt, he is in constant awe of Picasso’s artistic strength and inventiveness.
On the creative path of five decades, Tuđa has sensibly changed his attitude towards shaping the figure and, in a certain way, towards the multi-layered aspect of the content. He has approached the depiction of the everyday life by describing it factually and enriching it with intriguing imagination. With a certain note of the literary, woven into the work with unparalleled background in artwork, Tuđa follows the usual and unusual situations by developing his painting “stories”from the emphasized legibility of the motif to the paradoxical threshold.”
